Volleyball team drops four-set match against Kalamazoo
In its annual “Dig for the Cure” match, the Olivet College volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Kalamazoo College tonight at the Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Comets won the first set 25-23 before the Hornets rallied to win the next three 25-19, 25-22 and 25-15.

Freshman middle hitter Emma Brann (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) led the Olivet front row players with 14 kills with only four attack errors on 30 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. She also had two service aces, including one to end the first set. Senior Jordy Bergeron (Muskegon/Mona Shores) was next with 11 kills. Junior Kristen Sharpley (Marshall) was next with six, followed by freshman Myranda Reyna (Marshall) and sophomore Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) with five apiece.
Senior Lacee Boone (Otsego) and freshman Taylor Pringle (Haslett) dished out 21 and 17 assists, respectively. Sophomore libero Kaitlyn Salhaney (Caledonia/East Kentwood) posted a match-high 16 digs, while Westendorp and freshman Mackenzie Inman (Union City) each had 12.
The Comets are back in action Friday night when they travel to play MIAA leader and No. 1 Calvin College at 6:30 p.m.
