Volleyball team swept by Hope
The Olivet College volleyball team was swept in three sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-18) by Hope College tonight at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was swept in three sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-18) by Hope College tonight at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
The Flying Dutch led the first two sets from start-to-finish. The Comets had a 4-1 lead in the second set before Hope rallied to tie it at 6-6. The set had seven more tied scores, with the last time being 14-14. The Flying Dutch scored 11 of the final 15 points to win the set and match.
For the match, senior Jordy Bergeron (Muskegon/Mona Shores) led Olivet's front row players with seven kills. Three other players each recorded three kills. Freshman Taylor Pringle (Haslett) dished out eight set assists. Freshman Megan VanderVlucht (McBain) posted a team-leading nine digs.
The Comets will now prepare for the second half of their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule. On Friday, Olivet travels to play Adrian College at 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday, it hosts Albion College at 4 p.m.
