Volleyball team turned back by Calvin in straight sets
The Olivet College volleyball team was turned back by Calvin College in straight sets, 25-11, 25-10 and 25-9, tonight at The Cutler Event Center. Calvin entered the match ranked No. 1 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was turned back by Calvin College in straight sets, 25-11, 25-10 and 25-9, tonight at The Cutler Event Center. Calvin entered the match ranked No. 1 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
Sophomore Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) put down five kills to lead the Comets. Senior Jordy Bergeron (Muskegon/Mona Shores), sophomore Shelby Mitchell (Pinckney) and junior Kristen Sharpley (Marshall) had three kills apiece. Freshman Taylor Pringle (Haslett) led the team in set assists (nine) and digs (10).
The Comets are now off until Saturday night when they travel to play Alma College. First serve inside the Art Smith Arena is 6 p.m.
