Volleyball team swept by Saint Mary’s in three sets
The Olivet College volleyball team was swept by Saint Mary’s College in three sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-22, tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was swept by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Saint Mary's (Ind.) College in three sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-22, tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
Olivet led the first set 7-4 before the Belles scored six straight points to take a 10-7 lead. They did not give up the lead for the rest of the set. Saint Mary's had the lead in the entire second set. The third set was back and forth with neither team leading by more than three points.
For the Comets, freshmen Emma Brann (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) and Mackenzie Inman (Union City) topped the team with eight kills apiece. Inman also posted team-highs in attacking percentage (.235) and digs (13). Senior Lacee Boone (Otsego) recorded 13 set assists. Freshman Megan VanderVlucht (McBain) had a match-high four service aces.
The Comets will travel to play Kalamazoo College next Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m.
