Olivet College’s Ciaravino places third in heptathlon at OWU Ron Althoff Meet
Olivet College sophomore Cassie Ciaravino scored 3,943 points to place third of 10 competitors in the women’s heptathlon at the Ron Althoff Qualifying Meet, which was hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
DELAWARE, Ohio – Olivet College sophomore Cassie Ciaravino scored 3,943 points to place third of 10 competitors in the women's heptathlon at the Ron Althoff Qualifying Meet, which was hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Ciaravino ran the fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.36 seconds, which gave her 795 points. She cleared the high jump bar at 1.48m/4'10.25" to score 599 points. Ciaravino added 416 points to her total with an 8.26m/27'1.25" throw in the shot put. She ended the first day of competition with a tie for third-place in the 200-meter dash at 27.36 seconds and 682 points.
Ciaravino started today's second day of multi-day event with the top mark in the long jump, soaring 5.23m/17'2" and gave her 623 points. She then scored 281 points with a 19.59m/64'3" toss in the javelin. Ciaravino ended the competition with a time of 2:42.32 in the 800-meter run, which provided the 547 points to her total.
NOTE: The 3,943 points also broke the school record. The previous mark was 2,244 points by Adrianne Thompson in 2001.
