Rimmer leads women’s track and field team at MIAA Field Day
Freshman Brandi Rimmer scored in two events to help the Olivet College women’s track and field team finish in seventh-place at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day today at Calvin College.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Freshman Brandi Rimmer (Flint/Carman Ainsworth) scored in two events to help the Olivet College women's track and field team finish in seventh-place at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day today at Calvin College.
Rimmer's best finish was in the 400-meter dash, placing fourth with a time of 1:00.38. She also broke the school record in the 200-meter dash with a fifth-place time of 26.53 seconds. Both times were also season-bests for Rimmer. Also individually, junior Becca Gaarde (Parma/Western) finished in seventh-place in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.93 seconds.
Gaarde and Rimmer teamed with sophomores Heather Lauwers (Ortonville/Brandon) and Rachael Wagner (Clinton Twp./Fraser) for a fourth-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 51.08 seconds. Lauwers, Rimmer, Wagner and sophomore Jenna Mayle (Ionia) crossed the line in sixth-place in the 4x400-meter relay at a season-best time of 4:12.39.
Sophomore Sara Wegener (Dimondale/Lansing Catholic) finished in seventh-place in the shot put. She threw it a season-best 11.43 meters/37 feet, 6 inches. Wegener almost scored in all four of her field events, as she was ninth in the javelin with a 27.93 meters/91 feet, 7 inch throw.
