BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with a 6-3 loss to Trine (Ind.) University this afternoon inside the Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek.

The Comets won 2-of-3 doubles matches. The No. 1 duo of senior Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) and junior Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) posted an 8-5 win. The No. 1 duo of seniors Jenna Baker (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and Jordy Bergeron (Muskegon/Mona Shores) held on for a 9-7 victory.

Olivet could not carry the momentum into singles play, as the Thunder won 5-of-6 matches. Singer closed out her home career with a 7-5, 6-4 win at the No. 2 flight. Baker lost in three sets at the No. 3 flight. After winning the first set 6-1, she fell 7-5 and 6-4. At No. 5 singles, freshman Megan Post (Marshall) dropped a hard-fought, three-set match. She won the first set, 7-5, before her opponent came back to win the second set on a tiebreaker and a super-tiebreaker in the third set.

The Comets will wrap-up their season Saturday with a 1 p.m. match at Kalamazoo College.
