Women’s swimming team loses to Hope, 146-92
The Olivet College women’s swimming team fell to Hope College, 146-92, today at the Dow Center in Holland.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College women's swimming team fell to Hope College, 146-92, today at the Dow Center in Holland.
Despite the loss, the Comets had five individual runner-up performances. Freshman Kira Gates (Grosse Ile) took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:34.85. Sophomore Jazmin Johnson (Grand Rapids/Northview) was second in both sprint freestyle events. In the 50, she was out-touched at the wall by one-hundredth of a second with a time of 25.89 seconds, and in the 100, Johnson stopped the clock at 56.55 seconds.
Junior Kristin Long (Pemberville, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) posted the second-fastest times in the 200 butterfly (2:30.62) and 200 individual medley (2:25.62).
The aforementioned trio of swimmers joined with senior Jana Blodgett (Sturgis) placed second in the 500 freestyle relay, touching the wall in 3:58.53.
Olivet is idle until Saturday, Jan. 19, when it hosts Albion College at 1 p.m.
