Women’s swimming team loses double dual to Hillsdale and Ohio Northern
The Olivet College women’s swimming team dropped both ends of a non-conference double dual meet tonight at Hillsdale College. The Comets fell to the host Chargers, 137-78, and Ohio Northern University, 147-84.
HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College women's swimming team dropped both ends of a non-conference double dual meet tonight at Hillsdale College. The Comets fell to the host Chargers, 137-78, and Ohio Northern University, 147-84.
Olivet won three individual events. Sophomore Jazmin Johnson (Grand Rapids/Northview) swept the sprint freestyle events, winning the 50 in 22.38 seconds and the 100 in 55.95 seconds. Her time in the 100 was four-hundredths quicker than the second-place swimmer.
Sophomore Kaitlin Smith (Port Huron) took first-place in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:18.30. She was also second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:14.53.
Sophomore Shana Bush (Alma) finished fourth in the distance freestyle events. Her times were 5:36.56 in the 500 and 11:36.65 in the 1,000. Also finishing in fourth were freshman Kira Gates (Grosse Ile) in the 200-yard freestyle, 2:05.05; and junior Alivia Hammond (Byron Center) in the 100-yard backstroke, 1:04.11.
The Comets are now off until Nov. 29-Dec. 1 when they compete at the Calvin College Winter Invitational.
