OLIVET, Mich. – The psych sheet for the 2012 NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships March 21-24 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis has been released. Based on this document, the NCAA will then select the field that will compete at the championships. The official field will be announced Tuesday, March 6.

The Olivet men have posted the 11th fastest time in the 200 medley relay (1:32.31) and the 16th fastest time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:22.86). Based on past championships, the Comets have a strong chance to get the opportunity to compete in these two events. Swimming on these relays were seniors Mike Harden (St. Johns) and Austin Munn (Pinckney), junior Nick Edgar (Lansing/Everett), sophomores Ben Aldrich (DeWitt/St. Johns) and Brian Fiorillo (Southgate/Anderson) and freshman Phil Barone, Jr. (Perrysburg, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales).

Individually, Fiorillo is 19th in the 50 freestyle (20.70) and 23rd in the 100 freestyle (45.54). Also recording conditional qualifying times this season were Edgar in the 100 backstroke, Barone, Jr. in the 100 breaststroke, and junior Joel Knight (Battle Creek/Lakeview) in the 100 butterfly.

For the women, senior Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) is looking to make a return trip to the national championships. Her best event is the 50 freestyle, where she is tied for the 20th fastest time (23.79).

This collection of swimmers marks the most in school history to post NCAA championships qualifying times in a single-season. In addition, Olivet has never had a relay make the cut and compete at the championships.
