OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) has been named to the 2012 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) swimming and diving team. She led Comet women to a fourth-place finish at the 2012 MIAA Championships Feb. 15-18 at the Holland Community Aquatic Center.
Lohr, who is an All-MIAA selection for a second straight year, swam in the finals of her three individual events. She finished in second-place in both the 50 and 100 freestyle, and was eighth in the 100 butterfly. Lohr also swam on the second-place 200 freestyle relay and third-place 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays. Her leadoff split, :23.79, on the 200 freestyle relay was an NCAA Championships "B" cut.
"A lot of Caitlin's successes are attributed to how devoted and disciplined she is in the off season," said Olivet Head Coach Jake Taber. "She has a great understanding of how hard it is to improve her times in this sport and she saw a tremendous drop in her 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly this year. She is someone who just 'gets it.' For as gifted of a swimmer as she is in the water, she's an even better human being."
The 2012 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will take place March 21-24 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
