GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College today at Zuidema Field in Grand Rapids.
The teams were locked in a scoreless battle until the 75:59 mark when Paige Capel scored for the Knights. Calvin scored another goal on its very next shot attempt at the 77:15 mark. The Knights capped their scoring in the 83rd minute. Capel assisted on the last two goals, with Taylor TenHarmsel scoring the first and Heidi Scholten scoring the second.
The Comets were limited to six total shots, including two for freshman Alexis Nichols (Lapeer/East). Freshman Deanna Zolnoski (Macomb/Henry Ford II) made nine saves, while facing 32 shots in 90 minutes of action in net.
Olivet returns to the pitch Saturday when it hosts Albion College at noon.
