ALBION, Mich. – Freshman Jordyn MacKool (Berkley) scored the game-winning goal, as the Olivet College women's soccer team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 1-0, this afternoon at Alumni Field in Albion.
The game was a scoreless battle for the first half. The Comets had several great chances to score a goal in the first five minutes. They finally broke through in the 66th minute when MacKool received a pass from senior Becca Gaarde (Parma/Western), and buried her shot past the Briton keeper. Olivet kept the offensive pressure up and the defense held Albion without a shot in the second half.
Overall for the game, the Comets had a 20-2 advantage in total shots, including 11-1 edge for shots-on-goal. Both teams took three corner kicks.
