Women’s soccer team loses 2-1 in double overtime to Kalamazoo
The Olivet College women’s soccer team lost a 2-1 double overtime game to Kalamazoo College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team lost a 2-1 double overtime game to Kalamazoo College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
C.J. McCarthy put the Hornets up 1-0 just four minutes, 18 seconds into the game. The Comets battled back to tie the game at 1-1 with 5:13 left before halftime when freshman Lauren Vanderhoff (Sterling Heights/Henry Ford II) found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal. Juniors Jenna Mayle (Ionia) and Lindsey Winters (Plymouth/Canton) were each credited with an assist on the goal.
Both teams failed to score a goal in the second half, sending the game to overtime. The two teams had corner kicks in the first extra frame, but failed to get a shot off them. Kalamazoo won the game with a goal by Jackie Short only three minutes, 23 seconds into the second extra period.
The Hornets out-shot Olivet, 28-5, including a 19-4 advantage in shots-on-goal. Five different Comets recorded a shot. Freshman Deanna Zolnoski (Macomb/Henry Ford II) played all 103:23 in goal and made 17 saves.
Olivet returns to the field next Tuesday, Sept. 25, when it hosts Calvin College at 4 p.m.
