Women’s soccer team falls to Alma, 3-1
The Olivet College women’s soccer team fell to defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament champion Alma College, 3-1, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament champion Alma College, 3-1, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Scots scored three times in the first half. Their first goal was by Kelly Wilson in the fourth minute. Taryn Handyside added another goal in the 13th minute. Kalyn Berinti put them ahead 3-0 with a goal in the 42nd minute.
The Comets dented the scoreboard for the only time in this game in the fifth minute of the second half. Junior Jenna Mayle (Ionia) was tripped in the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Sophomore Kaylee Liddle (Clarkston) took the shot and made the goal. It was also the first collegiate goal for Liddle.
Olivet finished the game with eight shots (four on-goal), with Liddle, senior Rebecca Gaarde (Parma/Western) and sophomore Olivia Gardner (Trenton) each recording two. Freshman Deanna Zolnoski (Macomb/Henry Ford II) played all 90 minutes in goal, facing 19 shots and making seven saves.
The Comets will travel to play Hope College next Wednesday, Sept. 19. The game will be played under the lights at Van Andel Soccer Stadium in Holland at 7 p.m.
