Bill Maas is in his 11th season as Olivet’s head women’s golf coach in 2013-14. He also serves the athletic department as the NCAA compliance coordinator and academic counselor.
Maas has steadily built Olivet into the top women’s golf program in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Under his leadership, the Comets have won five of the last seven MIAA championships (2006, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012). He also guided Olivet to six appearances, including five straight, at the NCAA Division III National Championships from 2007-11. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the Comets received an at-large bid after finishing second in the MIAA spring qualifier.
At the national championships, Olivet was eighth in 2007, 11th in 2008, tied for 11th in 2009, 11th in 2010, tied for 10th in 2011 and 13th in 2013. His teams have also excelled in the class room, earning five straight MIAA Team GPA awards. In addition, 25 golfers have been named National Golf Coaches Association Scholar-Athletes.
Maas is a 1989 graduate of Olivet. He resides in Olivet with wife, Amy. He is the assistant fire chief for the city of Olivet.
