Damico leads women’s golf team to eighth-place finish at Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational
Led by junior Theresa Damico’s second-place finish in the player standings, the Olivet College women’s golf team finished in eighth-place at the 2013 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational at the Indian Mounds Golf Course. The Comets posted a three-round total of 990 strokes.
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Led by junior Theresa Damico's (White Lake/Lakeland) second-place finish in the player standings, the Olivet College women's golf team finished in eighth-place at the 2013 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational at the Indian Mounds Golf Course. The Comets posted a three-round total of 990 strokes.
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) won the team title with 954 strokes, followed by Methodist (N.C.) University, 960; Claremont Mudd Scripps (Calif.) College, 964; Illinois Wesleyan University, 982; University of Texas at Tyler, 984; Southwestern (Texas) University, 986; and New York University, 990.
Olivet posted a 329 team score in today's third round. Individually, Damico tied for the second-best round with a two-over par 74. She had a three-round total of 231 strokes, which was only three strokes behind the medalist, Elizabeth Cheng from Hollins (Va.) University.
Junior Adrienne Plourde (Redford/Thurston) was part of a seven-way tie for 33rd-place in the player standings with a three-round total of 247 strokes. Freshman Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) was consistent over her three rounds (86-84-85) with a 255.
Freshman Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) carded a three-round total of 260 strokes. Junior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) was two strokes behind with a 262.
The Comets are now off until Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7, when they compete at the Washington (Mo.) University Invitational at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill.
