Women’s golf team finishes in fourth-place at MIAA Jamboree, maintains lead in overall standings
Despite a fourth-place finish today at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboee #4 today at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, the Olivet College women’s golf team maintains first-place in the overall MIAA standings.
ADRIAN, Mich. – Despite a fourth-place finish today at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboee #4 today at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, the Olivet College women's golf team maintains first-place in the overall MIAA standings.
The Comets carded a 355 team score in today's round to finish behind champion Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 345; Calvin College, 348; and Hope College, 350. Behind Olivet was Alma College, 376; Adrian College, 392; Trine (Ind.) University, 393; Albion College, 416; and Kalamazoo College, 433.
Junior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) earned medalist honors with a five-over par 77. She was the only golfer to shoot a score in the 70s. Junior Adrienne Plourde (Redford/Thurston) finished 10th in the player standings with an 88. Freshman Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) was a stroke behind at 89. Freshman Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) and junior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) each completed their round in 101 strokes.
In the overall standings, the Comets have a 28-stroke lead over Hope, 1,328-1,356. Saint Mary's is just two strokes behind the Flying Dutch at 1,363; and Calvin is five strokes behind the Belles, 1,363. The rest of the scores are Trine, 1,506; Adrian, 1,517; Albion, 1,578; and Kalamazoo, 1,707.
The final two rounds of the fall season will be played next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13 at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
