Olivet College’s Damico bows out of 96th Michigan Amateur

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Olivet College junior-to-be Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) has been eliminated from the 96th Annual Michigan Women's Amateur at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing.
The No. 29 overall seed, Damico dropped a 3&1 (up three with one hole left) decision to No. 13 seed Melissa Beurmann, who will be a junior at Western Michigan University this fall. Damico is the first women's golfer in school history to advance to the match play round of the Michigan Amateur.

Olivet College's Damico advances to round of 16 at 96th Michigan Amateur
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Olivet College junior-to-be Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) has advanced to the round of 16 at the 96th Annual Michigan Women's Amateur at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing.
The No. 29 seed in the round of 32, Damico beat No. 4 seed Devon Compton, 3 and 2 (up three with two holes left). Compton will be a sophomore at University of Michigan this fall, and was named the 2010 Michigan Miss Golf (top high school golfer in the state of Michigan). Compton was the lowest seed to be knocked out in today's round.
Damico will face No. 13 seed Melissa Beurmann tomorrow morning in the Round of 16, with an 8:20 a.m. tee time. The winner faces the winner of the No. 5 Emmie Pietila versus No. 12 Lindsey McPherson. You can follow the action from the amateur by viewing the tournament's website.

Olivet College's Damico qualifies for match play at 96th Michigan Amateur
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Olivet College junior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) is participating in the 96th Annual Michigan Women's Amateur at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing.
In the first two rounds of stroke play, Damico tied for 24th-place with a total of 158 strokes. She carded an 80 in the first round and followed that performance with a 78 in the second round.
With the finish, Damico qualifies for the match play rounds, which begins tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. As the No. 29 seed, she will be paired with No. 4 seed Devon Compton from Rochester. Only the top 32 golfers (out of 87 total golfers) qualified for match play.
