Women’s golf team tied for eighth after day one of Jekyll Island Invitational
The Olivet College women’s golf team is tied for eighth-place after the first day of the 2012 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe (Ga.) University and on the Indian Mound Golf Course. The Comets’ first golfer will tee off for tomorrow’s second of three rounds at 8 a.m.
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Olivet College women's golf team is tied for eighth-place after the first day of the 2012 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe (Ga.) University and on the Indian Mound Golf Course. The Comets' first golfer will tee off for tomorrow's second of three rounds at 8 a.m.
For today's round, Olivet posted a 334 team score and is tied with Rhodes (Tenn.) College. Methodist (N.C.) leads the talented and deep field with a 311 team score, and Centre (Ky.) College is second at 322. The Comets are only six strokes out of fifth-place.
Olivet's top three golfers are each separated by one stroke, as sophomores Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) and Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) and senior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) carded an 80, 81 and 82, respectively. Freshman Jennifer Myers (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) was next at 91, followed by sophomore Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) completed the lineup with a 95.
