Three women’s golfers earn first-team All-MIAA honors
OLIVET, Mich. -- Three Olivet College women's golfers, senior Lauren Campbell (Fenton), and sophomores Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) and Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) have earned 2011 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) first-team honors. In addition, Campbell was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Golfer and received the MIAA's Sportsmanship award.
The trio helped the Comets win the 2011 MIAA Championship. It is the fourth league title in school history and the first since 2008. Campbell finishes her career as a four-time All-MIAA selection, including two straight first-team honors. Damico moves up to the first-team after earning second-team honors last fall.
Campbell posted a 77.7 stroke average over the six-round MIAA schedule. She broke the MIAA 18-hole scoring record and school record with a 70 at the Bedford Valley Country Club. Damico had the fourth-best stroke average at 81.5. Her best round was a 74 at the Ravines Golf Course. Jones was sixth at 82.5, with a low round of 75 in the final round at Bedford Valley.
