Women’s golf finishes in fourth-place at MIAA Jamboree #3, maintains second in overall standings
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in fourth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today at Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo. Despite the finish, the Comets maintain second-place in the overall league standings.
In today's round, the Comets posted a 351 team score. Hope took top honors with a 339, followed by Saint Mary's (Ind.) at 340 and Calvin at 348. Behind Olivet were Adrian 370, Trine (Ind.) 373, Albion 379, Kalamazoo 381 and Alma 396.
In the player standings, senior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) tied for third with an 83. She had a 40 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine. Sophomore Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) needed 86 strokes to complete her round. Freshman Jennifer Myers (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) had her best MIAA round of the season with an 89. Sophomore Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) and sophomore Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) carded a 93 and 96, respectively.
In the overall standings, the Comets trail Hope by 15 strokes, 1,004-1,019. Saint Mary's is third at 1,027. Calvin is fourth at 1,050, while Trine and Adrian are tied at 1,110. One stroke separates seventh (Albion) and eighth (Alma), 1,155-1,156.
There still has not been a decision made on the status of Thursday's jamboree at The Medalist Golf Club that was suspended because of rain. Olivet is scheduled to end its fall schedule next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
