Women’s golf team places fourth at rain-shortened DePauw Small College Classic

Olivet, No. 13 in the preseason National Golf Coaches Association poll, had a 513 team score. No. 8 Centre (Ky.) College took top honors with a 482, while No. 2 and the host Tigers finished second with a 486 and No. Illinois Wesleyan was third at 493. The Comets were five strokes ahead of No. 23 Wittenberg (Ohio) and seven ahead of No. 5 Saint Mary's (Ind.) College.
Sophomores Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) and Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) were named to the all-tournament team. Both shot a 123 to tie for seventh-place in the player standings. Jones had a 77 in the yesterday's first round and a 46 in today's nine holes. Damico finished with a 79 yesterday and 44 today. No other scores from today are available at this time.
Olivet will now focus on the conclusion of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. On Thursday, the Comets will play the third jamboree at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, and on Saturday, they will travel to Kalamazoo to play at the Milham Park Golf Course. The final two championship rounds are Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8 at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
