CLAYTON, Ind. – The Olivet College women's golf team sits in third-place after the first round of the DePauw University Small College Classic at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Indiana.
Olivet, ranked No. 13 in the preseason National Golf Coaches Association poll, has a 329 team score. No. 8 Centre (Ky.) College leads the eight-team field with a 316, while No. 2 and the host Tigers are second with a 320. The Comets are one stroke ahead of No. 4 Illinois Wesleyan University, eight strokes ahead of No. 23 Wittenberg (Ohio) and 20 ahead of No. 5 Saint Mary's (Ind.) College.
Sophomore Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) is part of a three-way tie for second-place in the player standings with a career-best 77. Sophomore Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) is in sixth-place with a 79. Senior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) is next at 81, followed by sophomore Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) at 92. Freshman Jennifer Myers (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) completed her round in 105 strokes.
Tomorrow's second has an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
