2011 Women's Golf Preview
The goals of winning a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship and qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championships for the Olivet College women’s golf team have been the same during the tenure of Head Coach Bill Maas. The last three years, the Comets fell short of winning a league championship but still managed to have a successful season by receiving an at-large bid to compete at the national championships. Maas is confident Olivet can achieve both goals this year.

Senior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) earned first-team All-MIAA honors last year for the first time after earning second-team All-MIAA her first two years. She has been in the Olivet starting five since beginning her collegiate career in 2008. In her career, Campbell has played 70 total rounds and averaged 83.7 strokes.
Sophomores Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) and Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) burst on the scene last year. Damico was one of four freshmen to earn All-MIAA honors, and Jones narrowly missed earning a spot on the All-MIAA teams. Damico played better in the fall, averaging 85.3 strokes over 12 rounds to an 86.6 average in the spring. Jones was better in the spring, averaging 85.0 strokes to an 88.8 average in the fall.
Sophomore Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) played as an individual scorer at most of the tournaments during the 2010-11 season, and is going to get a chance to contribute in the starting five this fall.
Freshmen Jennifer Myers (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) and Megahn Piper (Parma/Western) add depth to the roster.
Olivet opens its season Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2-3, when it competes at the NCAA Preview, hosted by Trine (Ind.) University at the Zollner Golf Course. The 2012 NCAA Championships will take place next May at Zollner.
