Olivet College’s Campbell named MIAA Player of the Week for women’s basketball
Olivet College junior Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for women’s basketball.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for women's basketball. She is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in her career.
Campbell scored a career-high 26 points, including a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime, as the Comets beat Kalamazoo College, 67-59, Jan. 5 at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo. She also dished out six assists, grabbed five rebounds and made three steals. Campbell made 9-of-16 baskets, including 3-of-7 from behind the arc, and perfect 6-of-6 free throws for her 26 points.
"Kelsey hit a huge shot for us to take the game into overtime, but she also made timely plays for us the entire game," said Olivet Head Women's Basketball Coach Nicole Burford. "After her three-point shot at the end of regulation, Kelsey continued to play big in overtime with key defensive plays and sinking all six of her free throws."
Olivet is back in action Wednesday night when it travels to play Alma College at 6 p.m., and then hosts Albion College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
