OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week honors for women's basketball. She is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
Campbell averaged 20.5 points, five assists and three steals in leading the Comets to a pair of wins to start MIAA play last week. She began the week with a career-best 22 points, including six 3-pointers, in a 72-63 win Nov. 28 at Trine (Ind.) University. Campbell then scored 19 points, including five triples, in a 79-75 come-from-behind win Dec. 1 at Saint Mary's (Ind.) College. In both games, she had five assists and three steals. For the week, Campbell shot 65 percent (11-of-17) from 3-point land, made 57 percent (12-of-21) of her field goal attempts and 75 percent (6-of-8) free throws.
"Kelsey had a pretty awesome week for us," said Olivet Head Women's Basketball Coach Nicole Burford. "She made a lot of timely baskets and timely plays for the team in both games and that is what we expect her to do. Whenever we give her a challenge she has shown she can rise to it and that is one of the most valuable things she brings to the team."
Olivet continues MIAA play tomorrow night when it hosts Adrian College. Game time inside The Cutler Event Center is 7:30 p.m.
