Men’s cross country team finishes in seventh-place at MIAA Championships
The Olivet College men’s cross country team placed at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, which was hosted by Albion College and ran at the Whiffle Tree Hill Golf Club in Concord.
CONCORD, Mich. – The Olivet College men's cross country team placed at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, which was hosted by Albion College and ran at the Whiffle Tree Hill Golf Club in Concord.
The Comets scored 187 points to finish ahead of Kalamazoo College by 11 points and were only 15 points behind sixth-place Trine (Ind.) University. Sophomore Andrew Benkovsky (Eaton Rapids) finished in 27th-place, as he covered the 8K course in 26:23. Freshman Austin Thimler-Coffman (Tekonsha/Union City) was not far behind in 30th-place, with a time of 26:42.
Sophomore Jalen Weaver (Albion) completed the race in 27:25, followed by freshman Tyler Britten (Mendon) in 27:53. Junior Connor Plagens (South Lyon) was the last Olivet runner to factor in the team, finishing the race in 28:38.
The Comets will next compete Nov. 10 at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional meet. Anderson (Ind.) University is the host school.
