Records fall for track & field teams at Hillsdale “Gina” Relays
Five school records were broken for the Olivet College track & field teams at the 47th Annual Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays.
HILLSDALE, Mich. – Five school records were broken for the Olivet College track & field teams at the 47th Annual Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays.
Sophomore Greg Lutzke set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:44.21. He bested his own mark of 15:45.80.
Sophomore Andrew Benkovsky shattered the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:45.34. The previous record was 10:01 by Lloyd Damon during the 1981 season. Benkovsky also obliterated the school record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:08.85. The old mark was 4:12.78.
Sophomore Cassie Ciaravino broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.33 seconds. Her previous time was 16.02 seconds.
The women's 4x800-meter relay quartet of junior Jenna Mayle, freshman Charlene MacKenzie, junior Rachael Wagner and Ciaravino set a school record with a time of 10:33.99.
The Comets now turn their attention to the 2013 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day next Thursday and Friday, May 2-3, at Hope College.
