Men’s track and field team competes at Adrian All-American Meet
The men’s track and field team competed today at the Adrian College All-American Meet.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's track and field team competed today at the Adrian College All-American Meet.
Freshman Henry Pettway (East Lansing) recorded a pair of top five finishes on the track for the Comets. He was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash (:11.46) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (:23.28). Senior James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) was only two-hundredths slower than Pettway in the 100-meter dash, as he finished third (:11.48).
Freshman Jalen Weaver (Albion) scored second-place points in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 1:56.11. Senior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) placed third in the 400-meter run at 50.43 seconds. Both relays, 4x100 and 4x400, were third with times of :43.56 and 3:28.93, respectively.
Senior Lee Cline (Mt. Morris) saved his best throw in the javelin on his last attempt. His final throw 164 feet, 7 inches was good enough for a second-place finish, and was only 3 feet, 1 inch less than the school record set by Benji Garza in 2003. Williams finished fourth in the long jump (20 feet, 1-1/2 inches).
Olivet will compete at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree in one week, April 14. Albion College is the host school.
