Fiorillo and Lohr earn MIAA Athlete of the Week honors in swimming and diving
Olivet College sophomore Brian Fiorillo (Southgate/Anderson) and senior Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) have earned MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Brian Fiorillo (Southgate/Anderson) and senior Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) have earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week honors for men's and women's swimming and diving.
Fiorillo was part of two winning relays at the season-opening MIAA Relays Oct. 22 at the Holland Aquatic Center. He swam the anchor freestyle leg in 21.14 seconds of the 200 medley relay, as the Comets came from behind to tie Kalamazoo. Fiorillo led off the winning 200 freestyle relay with a 21.61 second split.
Lohr had the fastest split in two of the three relays she swam in at the MIAA Relays. She led off the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 24.48 seconds, leading Olivet to a second-place finish. Lohr recorded the fastest butterfly split (26.29 seconds) on the 200 medley relay.
The Comets return to the pool this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29, for a triple dual meet at Battle Creek Lakeview High School. Olivet will compete against MIAA rivals Albion and Hope, along with non-conference foe Carthage (Wis.) College. Friday's events start at 6 p.m., and Saturday's action starts at 11 a.m.
