Dan Bulley named head men’s soccer coach at Olivet College
Dan Bulley has been named head men’s soccer coach at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Heather Bateman, director of athletics.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Dan Bulley has been named head men's soccer coach at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Heather Bateman, director of athletics.
"I am excited about starting at Olivet," said Bulley. "I am delighted to take over a program that has seen much success over the last four years. I am confident we can continue with that trend of achievement at Olivet."
"I am extremely pleased to have Dan join the Comet family," said Bateman. "He brings a lot of coaching experience and enthusiasm to Olivet. Dan is committed to developing the student-athlete. I am certain he will be a great leader for our men's soccer program and an asset to the campus and community."
Bulley comes to Olivet after serving as an assistant men's soccer coach at Western Michigan University (WMU) for the last three seasons. He helped transform the Broncos into one of the elite programs in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), as they made back-to-back appearances in the MAC Tournament championship game in 2010 and 2011.
During Bulley's time there, WMU had two winning seasons and posted a 27-26-7 record. The Broncos excelled in the class room. The 2012 team carried a 3.45 grade point average, which was second highest among all NCAA Division I schools and fourth highest among all NCAA divisions.
In addition, Bulley serves as director of coaching for the Kalamazoo Kingdom. He coaches boys and girls teams, as well as the mentoring of other coaches.
A native of Exeter, England, Bulley earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from University at Buffalo (N.Y.) in 2010. He was a three-year starter for the Bulls from 2007-09 after playing his freshman season at West Texas A & M University. A two-time All-MAC selection, Bulley led Buffalo in scoring each year, totaling 27 goals and 11 assists for 65 points in his career.
Bulley also played for Great Britain at the World University Games in 2007 and 2009, and was a member of the English club academy teams Yeovil Town and Plymouth Argyle. During the summer of 2008, he came to Michigan for the first time, playing for the Kalamazoo Outrage of the Premier Development League and serving as the captain for the team.
Bulley received a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) advanced national diploma in Nov. 2012 and a NSCAA national diploma in June 2011. He also holds a F.A Level 1 Coaching badge.
