Gater named special teams coordinator at Olivet College
Olivet College Head Football Coach Dan Pifer has announced the appointment of David Gater as an assistant football coach, serving as the special teams coordinator.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College Head Football Coach Dan Pifer has announced the appointment of David Gater as an assistant football coach, serving as the special teams coordinator.
"David brings a tremendous work ethic to the football program," said Pifer. "He works extremely hard at everything he does. What I like most about David is he is a good football coach, who will do a great job motivating the players on the team."
Most recently, Gater served as the defensive coordinator at Anderson (Ind.) University during the 2011 season. Prior to that, he was the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Trine (Ind.) University for five seasons.
Gater earned a bachelor's degree from Ball State (Ind.) University in 2005 and master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia (Calif.) University in 2010. At Ball State, he played four years of football at safety for the Cardinals.
Gater plans to relocate from Anderson with wife, Jessie, and two daughters, Payton and Amya.
