Olivet College seniors Brooke Coshow (Niles/Brandywine) and Christine Daub (Hudson) have been named to the Capital One® Academic All-District VI softball team, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). By virtue of the honor, they also move onto the national CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.

Softball team ends season with doubleheader split at Hope

In contrasting results, the Olivet College softball team concluded the 2012 season by splitting a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader today against Hope College at Wolters Stadium in Holland. In the opener, senior Rachel Cook (Traverse City/Central) threw a complete game, five-hitter and the Comets won 6-0. In the nightcap, the teams combined for 26 hits and 16 runs, and Hope won, 11-5.

Complete game pitching performances from senior Rachel Cook (Traverse City/Central) and freshman Jessica Duell (Ionia) aided the Olivet College softball team to a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader sweep over Albion College today on Senior Day at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Comets won the first game 8-0 in five innings and came-from-behind to win the nightcap, 5-2.

The Bulldogs scored a run in top half of the seventh inning to win game one, 4-3. Olivet rallied back with a seven-run sixth inning to pull out a 10-7 win in game two.

Six homers help softball team open MIAA play with doubleheader sweep at Kalamazoo

The Olivet College softball team hit six home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Kalamazoo College at the Versluis Dickinson Park in Kalamazoo. In the first game, the Comets hit four home runs, including two by sophomore Terri Hurosky (Nashville/Maple Valley), and senior Rachel Cook (Traverse City/Central) threw her third straight shutout in a 19-0 win. In the second game, senior Brooke Coshow (Niles/Brandywine) blasted two home runs, including a grand slam, in an 18-5 win.

Softball team drops pair of two-run decisions in Florida

The Olivet College softball team concluded its spring break trip to the Gene Cusic Classic today by dropping a pair of two-run decisions at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers. The Comets were shutout by Hendrix (Ark.) College, 2-0, in their first game, and then fell 4-2 to College of Wooster (Ohio) in their second game.

Softball team settles for split at Gene Cusic Classic

The Olivet College softball team settled for a split in its two games today at the Gene Cusic Classic and inside the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla. The Comets lost their first game, 6-0. Behind four hits and five RBI by sophomore Lauren Lenard (Dimondale/Lansing Catholic), Olivet bounced back to beat University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 7-4.
