Cross country teams run at Spartan Invitational
The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams ran today at the Michigan State University Spartan Invitational, which was held at the Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing. The unscored meet featured NCAA Division I, II and III schools, NAIA schools and junior colleges from the state of Michigan.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams ran today at the Michigan State University Spartan Invitational, which was held at the Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing. The unscored meet featured NCAA Division I, II and III schools, NAIA schools and junior colleges from the state of Michigan.
Junior Greg Lutzke (Williamston) was the top finisher for the men's team. He completed the 8K course in 26:37. Junior Andrew Benkovsky (Eaton Rapids) was next at 27:31, followed by sophomore Tyler Britten (Mendon), 29:12; and junior Jalen Weaver (Albion), 29:16.
Junior Brittany Hayes (Battle Creek/Lakeview) finished the women's 6K course in 26:03 for the Comets' best finisher. Senior Rachael Wagner (Clinton Twp./Fraser) was next at 27:04, followed by senior Anna Krausz (Lyons/Portland), 27:19; and freshman Jacklyn Yates(Fowlerville/Hesperia), 27:41.
Olivet is idle until Saturday, Sept. 28, when it competes at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree, hosted by Adrian College. The women's 6K race gets started at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at noon.
