Women’s cross country team runs at Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational
The Olivet College women’s cross country team ran today at the Loyola University/Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational at Montrose Beach in Chicago. One of the Midwest’s largest meets, the event featured NCAA Division I, II and III schools, NAIA institutions and junior colleges. Forty-five schools participated in the women’s race.
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Olivet College women's cross country team ran today at the Loyola University/Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational at Montrose Beach in Chicago. One of the Midwest's largest meets, the event featured NCAA Division I, II and III schools, NAIA institutions and junior colleges. Forty-five schools participated in the women's race.
All eight Olivet runners posted season-best 5K times in the race. Freshman Hayley Drummond (Williamston) was the first finisher for the Comets, as she completed the run in 21:48. Fellow freshman was next Lane Duckworth (Bellevue) in 22:41. Senior Carly Olson-Guggemos (DeWitt/ Homeschooled) finished in 23:03.
Two seconds separated the next two Olivet runners, as senior Brittany Marshall (Canton, Ga./Woodstock) and senior Crystal Ramon (Marshall) had times of 23:46 and 23:48, respectively. Senior Courtney Osborn (Dorr/Wayland Union) ran the race in 24:59.
"I am pleased with how we competed today in Chicago," said Olivet Head Coach Karen Lutzke. "Almost everyone had a personal-best or season-best time."
The Comets are now off until Saturday, Oct. 15, when they compete at the Manchester (Ind.) College Spartan Invitational.
