Women’s cross country team finishes in ninth-place at MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College women’s cross country team finished in ninth-place at the 2011 MIAA Jamboree today, which was hosted by Trine University at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College women's cross country team finished in ninth-place at the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree today, which was hosted by Trine University at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
Defending MIAA champion Calvin College took first-place with 27 points. Hope placed second with 44 points, followed by Albion 95, Adrian 124, Alma 143, Kalamazoo 157, Saint Mary's 160, Trine 222 and Olivet 289.
Two first-year runners led the Comets. Hayley Drummond (Williamston) was the top performer, as she completed the 6K course in 28:25. Lane Duckworth (Bellevue) was next at 29:24. Senior Carly Olson-Guggemos (DeWitt/ Homeschooled) finished in 31:01, followed by seniors Courtney Osborn (Dorr/Wayland Union) and Crystal Ramon (Marshall) at 31:46 and 32:12, respectively.
"This was our first 6K of the season," said Olivet Head Coach Karen Lutzke. "It was windy and the course was hilly. Overall, I was pleased with how we are continuing to challenge and push ourselves more each competition."
The Comets will run at the Loyola Invitational in Chicago next Saturday, Oct. 1. The women's race starts at noon CT.
