Women’s cross country team opens 2011 season at Adrian Invitational
The Olivet College women's cross country team opened the 2011 season by running today at the Adrian College Invitational, which was held at the Lenawee Christian High School in Adrian.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College women's cross country team opened the 2011 season by running today at the Adrian College Invitational, which was held at the Lenawee Christian High School in Adrian.
Freshman Hayley Drummond (Williamston) turned in the team's top performance, as she covered the 5K course in 24:42.23. Senior Brittany Marshall (Canton, Ga./Woodstock) was next in 25:48.70, followed by senior Courtney Osborn (Dorr/Wayland Union) in 26:34.89. Senior Carly Olson-Guggemos (DeWitt/Homeschooled) completed the race in 27:31.39, while freshman Lane Duckworth (Bellevue) finished in 28:12.82.
"We competed today in very hot weather," said Olivet Head Coach Karen Lutzke. "The meet gives us a starting point for the rest of the season, as many of the athletes were competing in their first college meet."
The Comets will compete at the Defiance (Ohio) University Invitational next Saturday, Sept. 10. The women's race will start at 10:50 a.m.
