Men’s and women’s cross country teams finish in eighth-place at 2007 MIAA Championships
The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country teams finished in eighth-place today at the 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships. Albion College hosted the meet at the Whiffletree Golf Course in Concord.

The women's team was led by senior Jessica Petkus (Milford), as she covered the 6K course in 26:40 to finish in 38th minute. Junior Amy Johnson (Gaylord) was next in 41st-place at 27:23.5, followed by freshman Alisha Fisher (Battle Creek/Lakeview), 28:17.7; junior Jessica Woods (Climax/Climax-Scotts), 28:37.0; and junior Anna Braner (Belmond, Iowa/Marshall), 28:51.4. Also competing for the Comets were junior Kacie Rosecrants (Parma/Western), 28:51.8; and freshman Veronica Maidens (Arcadia/Onekama), 29:17.4.
Junior Daniel Slocum (Potterville) paced the Olivet men, finishing the 8K course in 30:46.8. Sophomore Thomas Giles (Gobles) clocked-in at 31:49.1; followed by senior Matt Swain (Union City), 31:58.3; sophomore Serafin Llerena (Bangor), 32:25.5; and junior Greg Jarratt (Centreville), 32:59. Also running for the Comets were sophomore Josh Osborne (Mancelona), 34:28.2; and freshman Alex Braner (Belmond, Iowa/Marshall), 37:23.2.
Olivet is now idle until Saturday, Nov. 10, when it participates in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Meet at Calvin College.
