The University of Olivet lands four student-athletes on CSC Academic All-District® women’s volleyball team
OLIVET, Mich. – Jaydn Cary, Hayleah McFadden, Abi Nunez and Violet Porter from The University of Olivet women's volleyball team have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team, the organization announced today. Cary is earning this honor for a second straight year, while the other three Comets are being honored for the first time.
To be eligible to earn Academic All-District® honors, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average and have significant athletic credentials. The student-athlete must have also competed in 90 percent of their school's matches or started in 66 percent of the team's matches. In addition, nomination limits per institution are in place for each sport in which CSC sponsors an Academic All-District® team. For volleyball, each school can nominate up to four student-athletes.
JADYN CARY
Cary was the starting libero in all 26 matches and 94 sets this season. She recorded a team-best 444 digs and was fourth on the team with 21 service aces. Cary posted an 89.5 serve receive percentage, making only 31 errors on 294 attempts. She also tallied 60 se assists. Cary's 4.72 digs per set ranked third among all Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) players. She will enter her senior season with 881 career digs.
HAYLEAH McFADDEN
McFadden started in 21 matches and appeared in 79 sets. She ended the year with 206 kills and .148 attack percentage. In addition, McFadden registered 59 digs and 19 blocks. In two years at Olivet, she had 399 kills and 44 blocks.
ABI NUNEZ
Nunez started in 25 matches and saw action in all except one set. She led the Comets with 388 kills, which is the second-most in UOlivet history for a season, and 32 service aces. Nunez also collected 309 digs and 23 blocks. Her 4.17 kills and 4.65 points per set ranked first among all MIAA players. Nunez ended her two years at with 646 kills, 419 digs and 38 blocks. The 646 kills are No. 10 all-time at Olivet.
VIOLET PORTER
Porter started 24 matches and appeared in 82 sets. She was second on the team with 27 total blocks and ended the year with 103 kills from the middle hitter position. Porter's career stats include 296 kills, .174 attack percentage and 98 blocks in 67 matches.
