Volleyball team posts 0-4 record at DePauw Invitational

The Olivet College volleyball team posted a 0-4 record at the two-day DePauw University Tiger Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana.

The Olivet College volleyball team posted a 0-4 record at the two-day DePauw University Tiger Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana. The Comets began play yesterday with a five-set loss (25-18, 22-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-9) to Millikin (Ill.) University and then fell in three sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-16) to Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology. Today, Olivet wrapped-up pool play with a four-set loss (25-20, 21-25, 25-19, 25-14) to Heidelberg (Ohio) University and then dropped a three-set match (25-19, 25-17, 25-21) to Capital (Ohio) University.

For the tournament, freshman Melanie Merchant (St. Joseph) led the Comets with 33 kills. She was followed closely by seniors Kim Travis (Shepherd) and Krystal Barkley (Flushing) with 28 and 26, respectively. Junior Jenessa Hicks (Union City) dished out 107 assists. Junior Morgan Iloncaie (Port Huron/Imlay City) had a team-leading 56 digs.

Olivet will play three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association matches next week, beginning Tuesday at Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at 7 p.m.
