Volleyball team loses two matches at Hanover (Ind.) Invitational
The Olivet College volleyball team lost two matches tonight at the Hanover (Ind.) College Invitational. The Comets opened play with a tough five-set (28-30, 26-30, 30-19, 30-20, 15-8) loss to DePauw (Ind.) University. In the second match, they fell to Franklin (Ind.) College 30-16, 30-17, 30-13.

The Olivet College volleyball team lost two matches tonight at the Hanover (Ind.) College Invitational. The Comets opened play with a tough five-set (28-30, 26-30, 30-19, 30-20, 15-8) loss to DePauw (Ind.) University. In the second match, they fell to Franklin (Ind.) College 30-16, 30-17, 30-13.
Against DePauw, junior Kara Brinker (North Branch) led the Olivet front row attack with 10 kills and a .281 hitting percentage. Freshman Mackenzie Heator (Union City) was next with nine kills. Sophomore Jessica Petkus (Milford) collected 23 set assists. Sophomore Meghan Smith (Rochester Hills/Adams) led the defense with 14 digs.
Against Franklin, freshman Theresa Martin (Charlevoix) had a team-high eight kills. Petkus added 10 set assists, followed by freshman Megan Maas (Lansing/Eastern) with nine. Smith finished with 21 digs.
Olivet wraps-up pool play Saturday morning at 11 a.m. against Denison (Ohio) University. The eight participating teams will then be ranked with seventh- and fifth-place matches at 1 p.m., followed by 3rd- and 1st-place matches at 2:45 p.m.
