Track and field teams compete at Adrian All-American Meet
The Olivet College track and field teams competed today at the Adrian College All-American Meet. The men scored 20.5 points to finish in eighth-place, while the women had 20 points to tie for seventh-place.

The men's 4x100-meter relay quartet of Pat Clasgens (Livonia/Stevenson), Jesse Holmes (Springport), Edric Miller (Battle Creek/Central) and James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) took first-place, finishing in 42.99 seconds. In the 100-meter dash, Williams and Miller were fifth (11.46) and seventh (11.57), respectively. Miller was also seventh in the 200-meter dash (23.64). Tim Esper (New Hudson/Walled Lake North) finished in a tie for seventh in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.80 meters (5'10.75"). He also scored an eighth-place point in the javelin (42.00 meters/137'9").
For the women, Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) placed third in the 400-meter run, clocking in at 1:01.33. Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) recorded a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash (13.39) and eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (27.87). Heather Nicklaw (Springport) tied for the third-best clearance in the high jump (1.50 meters/4'11'), but a judge's decision gave her sixth-place points. Amanda Huggett (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) placed eighth in the shot put (8.08 meters/27'2.75").
The Comets will next be in action Saturday, April 17, when they host the 2010 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree. It is the college's first-ever track and field meet on the sparkling Kolassa Track.
