Men's and women's track/field teams lose to Calvin and Hope
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track/field teams fell to Calvin and Hope colleges today in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual meets today at the Buys Athletic Field in Holland. The men’s team dropped a 127-48 decision to Calvin and a 127-55 decision to Hope. The women’s team lost by scores of 131-32 to Calvin and 139-30 to Hope.

The Comet men were led by senior Bobby Horton (Charlotte) who won the shot put (46'3.25") and was second in the discus throw (136'8"). His toss in the shot put edged the runner-up finisher by less than three inches. Freshman Brandon Satterfield (Battle Creek/Central) led a 2-3 Olivet finish in the long jump. Satterfield had a 20'10.50" leap, followed by sophomore Joe Cleveland (St. Joseph) with a 20'5.25" leap. Freshman Blake Walters (Olivet) placed third in the javelin with 149'3.50" throw.
On the track, freshman Patrick Clasgens (Livonia/Stevenson) was second in the 100-meter dash with a time of :11.41. Sophomore Lonnie White (Battle Creek/Central) clocked in at :16.14 in the 110-meter high hurdles to place third.
On the women's side, senior Courtney Ivan (Belleville) recorded the only Olivet first-place finish with a 107'7" throw in the javelin. Sophomore Tami Cahow (Climax/Climax-Scotts) finished in third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:17.15). The 4x100-meter relay placed second in :55.99.
The Comets are now idle until the 2007 MIAA Field Day Thursday and Friday, May 3-4 at Calvin.
