Track and Field teams participate in Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays
The Olivet College men’s and women’s outdoor track/field teams participated April 23-24 at the Hillsdale College “Gina” Relays. The two-day event featured athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III and NAIA schools across the Midwest competing.

Senior Josh Toussaint (Lansing Sexton High School) led the Fighting Comets with two individual top-ten finishes a top-10 relay finish. He was eighth in the 200-meter dash (22.35) and tenth in the 100-meter dash (11.31). Toussaint ran the last leg of the eighth-place 4x100-meter relay (43.43).
Ruel Haughton (Detroit Osborn High School), Kemp Luchie (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern High School) and Casey Redfield (Shepard High School) were also a part of the 4x100-meter relay. Individually, Haughton finished the 100-meter dash in 11.77 seconds.
Sophomore Dan Kimball (National City/Oscoda High School) was clocked in at 4:30.90 in the 1,500-meter run. Freshman Robert Horton, Jr. (Charlotte High School) recorded a 41.980-meter toss in the discus, and sophomore Andy Storey (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) had a 38.450-meter toss in the javelin.
On the women’s side, sophomores Courtney Ivan (Belleville High School) and Rachel Strelecki (Sterling/Standish-Sterling High School) and freshman Jessica Pletz (Farwell High School) competed. Ivan had a 30.490-meter toss in the javelin, Strelecki was clocked in at 11:58.40 in the 3000-meter run and Pletz finished the 1500-meter run in 5:21.50.
The Comets are next in action at the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 30-May 1, at Calvin College in Grand Rapids.
