Women's track and field team defeats Tri-State, loses to Adrian
The Olivet College women’s outdoor track and field team opened its 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule this afternoon with a double dual meet at Tri-State (Ind.) University. The Lady Comets defeated Tri-State, 44-40, but fell to Adrian College, 132-29.
The Olivet College women’s outdoor track and field team opened its 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule this afternoon with a double dual meet at Tri-State (Ind.) University. The Lady Comets defeated Tri-State, 44-40, but fell to Adrian College, 132-29.
Overall, Olivet recorded one first-place finish and three second-place finishes. Sophomore Courtney Ivan (Belleville High School) claimed a first-place finish in the javelin with a 98 foot toss.
Sophomore Rebecca Dawson (Williamsburg/Elk Rapids High School) was second in the 5000-meter run with a time of 21:03. Senior Shannon McHugh (Manistique High School) cleared the high jump bar at 4’6” to finish second. Freshman Sheena West (Kalamazoo Plainwell High School) had a 14’9” leap to place second in the long jump.
The Comets are now idle until Saturday, April 10, when they participate in a MIAA double dual meet at Alma College. Albion College is the other participating school and action begins at noon.
