UOlivet’s Girard receives MIAA Sue Little Award
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet sophomore Amelia Girard has been named the recipient of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Sue Little Award for the 2026 women's tennis season.
This award is presented annually to the student-athlete who best exemplifies courtesy and sportsmanship both on and off the court. It is an honor nominated and voted on by conference players. Named in memory of Sue Little, a 1954 Albion College graduate and conference singles champion, the honor reflects the core values of integrity, respect, and character.
"Amelia is a strong leader on the team serving as co-captain this year as a sophomore while also competing at No. 1 singles," said Olivet head coach Isabel Snyder. "She's an incredibly talented tennis player and a very hard worker who thrives on being challenged. Amelia competes at the highest level in our conference, and she always does so with respect for her teammates, her opponents, and the sport. She truly deserves this recognition for her unwavering sportsmanship."
The Sue Little Award has been presented annually to an MIAA women's tennis player since 1955. Girard is only the second Olivet student-athlete to receive the honor, joining Rose Thornton (1973).
