The Olivet College women’s tennis team defeated Bethel (Ind.) College, 5-4, this afternoon in a non-conference match at the Michigan State University Tennis Facility in East Lansing.

The Comets (6-5) swept the three doubles matches. At No. 1, the duo of seniors Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix)-Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) won the last five games to pull out an 8-6 victory. At No. 2, the duo of sophomore Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan)-junior Abbie Utberg (Commerce Twp./Walled Lake Central) picked-up an 8-3 win. At No. 3, the duo of seniors Corey Jager (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix)-Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) recorded an 8-4 victory.
Olivet won two-of-six singles matches. Vilums did not lose any games en route to an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 flight. Mummaw won, 7-6 (2), 6-3, at the No. 2 flight.
The Comets are back in action Wednesday, April 11, when they travel to play Hope College at 3 p.m.
