ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College women's soccer team defeated Trine (Ind.) University, 3-1, at Weaver Field in Angola, Indiana.
The Thunder took an early 1-0 lead on a goal in the fifth minute. The Comets scored the equalizer eight minutes and five seconds later when sophomore Emily Chrzasz (Livonia/Stevenson) scored after receiving a pass from senior Lindsey Winters (Plymouth/Canton). The score stayed that way until there was 3:15 left in the first half when junior Nicole Borek (Holt) found the back of the net. Olivet added an insurance goal 9:33 into second half. Sophomore Lauren Vanderhoff (Sterling Hts./Henry Ford II) scored, with Chrzasz and sophomore Alexis Nichols (Lapeer/East) each getting credit for an assist.
For the game, the Comets had a 14-9 edge in total shots, including an 8-5 advantage in shots-on-goal. Five different players each recorded two shots. Sophomore Deanna Zolnoski (Macomb/Henry Ford II) played all 90 minutes in goal, making four saves.
Olivet will play their final three regular season games at home, beginning next Wednesday, Oct. 30, against Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at 4 p.m.
