Nichols scores only goal in women’s soccer team’s 1-0 win over Kalamazoo

OLIVET, Mich. – Sophomore Alexis Nichols (Lapeer/East) scored a goal 42 seconds into the game, as the Olivet College women's soccer team defeated Kalamazoo College, 1-0, this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
On the goal, senior Lindsey Winters (Plymouth/Canton) played the ball to sophomore Gusty Kummer (Plymouth Salem), who passed to Nichols. Nichols then sent a shot into the net from 15 yards out.
For the game, both teams took 11 shots, with Kalamazoo placing seven on goal and Olivet placing four on goal. Freshman Kelsey Dietzen (Lansing/East Lansing) led the way with three shots. Sophomore Deanna Zolnoski (Macomb/Henry Ford II) earned her third shutout of the season in goal, while making seven saves.
The Comets will travel to play Hope College Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
